Utterly beautiful. I love how descriptive your poem is.
I am a Mom and I don't have any plans for Sunday besides hanging out with my littles. I typically post on Sundays, but maybe I'll give myself a break since it's Mother's Day.
Rachel I'm grateful I read this piece, as I remembered my mother growing up, it almost brought tears to my eyes.
I won't be able to be with her in the coming mother's day, she's 84 years old and still active, I'll be spending time with my own children who are coming back from college.
Happy mother's day to all the great mothers in here!!
i felt this part. if i captured it correctly, its the story of a mother/woman whose lover left her with a child to take care of alone. With the promise of someday getting married or loving her but once the child got into the picture he fled?
and now, that child is a constant reminder of the love she once had? 🥲
Maggie, White Diamonds, and Sousou. You ever smell and see a poem through a screen? Let me go ahead and send this card to my mom before the week is over.
Pregnancy is a really wild thing. I’ll never get over the fact that we all lived inside someone else before emerging into the world. I don’t think I’ll ever get over the miracle of it all. Thanks for reading.
☺️☺️☺️ I believe that’s a reminder we all could use. I’m not revisiting how to add some romance back into my everyday experience. This Mother’s Day will be spent romanticizing my experiences while cherishing the daughter I’ve been blessed with to share them with!!!
Oh Rachel, my heart. 🥹 This Mother’s Day I chose to spend being hugged up while my baby is with her daddy lol. I’m currently writing about one of my favorite memories with my mother and it was teaching her how to play sudoku while stuck on the highway for two hours in stopped traffic.
There is no other like women; without them, we wouldn't be here. They are more connected to the universe more than men by virtue of moon's rotation every month. They take care of us from seeds, foetus to even adulthood. Their motherly love is incomparable.
I have written severally about women's strength and where policies go wrong. Despite being our mother's, capitalism only works for men. Governments, NGOs, businesses, and international agencies haven't capitalize on the strengths of women to lift their economic fortunes.
Ohhhhh I love a crafty gift. I’m imagining you iced out in a macaroni necklace 😂. It sounds like you’ll have a love filled day no matter what they make. I try out hope you enjoy.
Thank you for this. I will not be with my kids or my mother this Sunday so I appreciated it.
You’re very welcome, Deirdre 🫂

Thanks so much for your feedback.
Sunday (and every day) is yours to do as you want. Rest sounds wonderful, I hope you enjoy.

What a wonderful way to spend the day, Paula. Also 84 and active is a blessing. I wish you both nothing but a day filled with joy.

Yup, yup, spot on! A kid who looks exactly like their dad with zero clue the part they play in a larger reality.
"looks like their dad" hits different. Sigh!
Thank you, Rachel. 💖
You’re very welcome. I hope you and your little Clydesdale have a fun filled day 😂💐
🙃...haha!

And you better draw a heart in it too 😂
This is stunning - every line felt for my own mother and or the mother I keep trying to be... Thank you, Rachel.
You’re very welcome, Noha 😊 thanks for reading!
This! 🔥😮💨

Truly. Seeing my warrior of a wife carry and birth three gorgeous babies was surreal.
🫡 my salute to a real one
Thank you on multiple levels for this! Not only am I a mother but I’m so honored to be mentioned in your post.
There are so many incredible things I’d love to point out and share but for now I want to bask in this beautiful moment.
I’m so blessed to have found my little corner here on Substack! Thank you so much ☺️
I’m so glad you feel seen!
I felt seen by your piece. I’m all about romance so your post was absolute *chef kiss*
I needed the reminder I’m the captain of my lived experience. 🫡💛

Gosh. Thank you so much for this, Rachel. 🥹 This poem is truly moving.
This will be my first Mother’s Day away from my mom. No plans.

That must have been some real traffic 😂 to bust out a pen and start playing. I can’t wait to read it when you share 😊
What a wonderful poem. I'm traveling to see my 92-year-old mom for Mother's Day weekend. I will hold your poem close.
What a blessing it is to see 92. I hope you both have a lovely time in each other’s company.
beautiful piece!
And thank you for the shoutout! I appreciate it :)
You’re very welcome. I enjoyed your work quite a bit.

The disinterest is intentional but that’s a convo for another time 😂🙃
Thanks for reading, Edwin.
This is beautiful, Rachel. I requested my husband help my kids make a craft for me 😂😂 (it’s the teacher in me lol)
