Dali Museum/Dali Paris/Escape Dali Paris - it features a variety of his works from a private collection. It left a great impression because viewing his pieces up close made it obvious that he was obsessed with various aspects of literally every ethnic culture (perhaps that’s why he was determined delusional).
I love going to museums. I am planning to explore several of the Smithsonian museums in DC this summer. Planet Word, although not a Smithsonian museum is also one of my favorite museums to visit because I’m a word nerd & it’s very interactive.
Hi Sherrell! I too am a word nerd I have to look Planet Word up because if it’s what I think it is - an installation of word histories and references? Then it’s a must visit. Is it located in DC too?
I’ve been to the NMAAHC and it was just too must to really get into over one day. I need to revisit.
Okay I had no idea that Alicia Keys Ava Swizz Beats had this extensive collection! It sounds beautiful (and what a great way to escape the heart).
The NAAHC in DC was breathtaking. I was especially grateful for the reflection space included in the museum because I needed it to calm back down.
In Rwanda, there was a memorial museum to remember the genocide of the Tutsis that greatly impacted me. There were corporeal reminders of the terror and murders. There was no sugar-coating. I admired the honesty laid bare.
I truly need to revisit the NMAAHC. My husband’s never been so it’s definitely something I can plan for.
I can’t even imagine going to the memorial museum in Rwanda. How did you decompress afterwards? Did you have the pleasure of sharing the experience with someone or did you visit by yourself?
Andy Warhol Museum was very interesting. Gave me hoarder vibes in Pittsburgh, but I really enjoyed chronicling this person‘s life through their belongings.
I always tell myself I’m not a museum person but every time I go, I’m leaning in to every moment just like I was here. I have to throw away that narrative as it seems to simply be untrue. I so appreciate the work you put into each of these.

Paris is on the to visit list. I’m not familiar with Dali’s works but now I am excited to research.
